YP Rural – Study visit to Fundão

The second phase of “Youth participation in rural areas” project took place from 16th – 19th January 2018 in Fundão (Portugal).

The Study visit brought together representatives of municipalities and civil society organisation from Latvia, Macedonia, Denmark, Italy and Portugal to discuss challenges and solutions for engaging youth in decision-making processes at the local level in rural and low-density areas. After the first phase in Egedal (Denmark), where we had the chance to see good practices of youth-led projects, we have now explored successful examples of youth participation in decision-making processes in the local community of Fundão.

The participants had the chance to visit interesting projects such as MATRIZ E6G,  Fab Lab Aldeias do XistoAcademia de Código,  Professional school of Fundão, as well as to be familiarized with the work of the Municipality on youth issues, particularly concerning the local youth council and youth participatory budget.

The Study visit ended with a lot of great project ideas on how to improve youth participation in decision-making processes in rural areas and how to cooperate on this issue within DYPALL Network.

The Study visit was organised by DYPALL, Ung Egedal and Municipality of Fundão with the support of Erasmus + programme.
