Young Migrant Voices – Training Course

“Young Migrant Voices: a training course for boosting participation of young migrants in decision-making processes at local level” took place from 9th– 15th December 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal. It brought together youth workers from seven different countries (Germany, Sweden, United Kingdom, Turkey, Italy, Slovenia and Lithuania) to explore the importance and challenges of the participation of young migrants and youth with a migrant background at the local level.

During the training, the participants had the chance to exchange and promote realities and good practices in terms of cooperation between local authorities and civil society organisations, for the inclusion of young migrants in decision-making processes; to enhance their skills on how to motivate and actively involve young migrants and youth with a migrant background, in the improvement of the communities where they live; how to increase the involvement of all stakeholders in the process of integration of young migrants in decision-making processes and how to support the integration of young migrants and develop among them a sense of belonging in their host communities.

As a part of the program, participants visited CRESCER, which is an organization working on the integration of immigrants. They had a chance to learn about the project “É Uma Vida” which creates solutions for immigrants housing needs, and the other project “Marhaba” which gives an opportunity to the immigrants to share their culture with the local people by preparing food for them. Also, participants visited the youth center of Associação Mais Cidadania (AMC), an organization in which immigrant children come together with local children. Moreover, the representative of “CRETCHEU” visited participants and gave information about their works on integrating immigrants from Cape Verde.

This was the third edition of “Young migrant voices” training course, organised by DYPALL Network in partnership with African Empowerment Center (Sweden) with the support of the Erasmus + program.
