Conference “Youth work at local level for community empowerment”

Conference “Youth work at local level for community empowerment” took place from 2nd – 6th May 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal. It brought together youth workers and activists from Sweden, Finland, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Cape Verde, Guine-Bissau, Mozambique and Sao Tome and Principe for the final event of a long-term project “CONNECT: Empowerment for the political and civic participation of young migrants” that focuses on the importance of inclusion and participation of migrant youth for community development.

The program of the Conference included presentations of CONNECT research, “Becoming a part of Europe” Erasmus + research, “Walking together without borders” presentation of Aid Global, as well as a visit to the High Commission for Migration and Portuguese National youth council (CNJ), among others. The participants also had the chance to discuss the role of migrant youth in community development and make plans for future cooperation on this topic.

The conference was organised by African Empowerment Centre as the main project partner with the support of DYPALL Network, Providers of Social Responses to Development and Lisbon Youth Centre.
