“European Future Citizens” Transnational Project Meeting and Final Conference

DYPALL Network participated from 10th – 13th March 2025, in the Transnational Project Meeting and Final Conference for the “European Future Citizens” project in Aarhus, Denmark.

On March 11th, the Final Conference served as a large-scale dissemination event, gathering 30 international participants, some from previous project phases and partner organisations from Italy, Portugal, Estonia, Romania and Denmark.

During the conference, each partner presented key project outputs developed over the past two years. These included the Future Citizens urban game, local Citizenthons held in each partner country, and the European Citizenthon, which took place in November 2024 in Faro, Portugal, where the Future Citizens Manifesto was created.

The conference also provided a platform for exchanging best practices on youth participation in local decision-making. A highlight was the insightful intervention by Karen Tambo from Aarhus Municipality, who presented the city’s Climate Plan for Children and Youth, focusing on reducing environmental impact and ensuring greener solutions for future generations.

To conclude the conference, the Future Citizens Manifesto was officially launched, and all participants signed a letter of commitment showing support for its recommendations. The next phase involves local conferences in each partner country, where the manifesto will be presented to key stakeholders—policymakers, educators, civil society organizations, and youth activists—to advocate for its implementation.

On the second day, participants visited Kirkens Korshær (Dan Church Social), a Danish charity organization housing CycleDokk, a bike rental and repair service, along with social carpentry, tailoring, and a charity shop. They also explored The Green Embassy, an informal space dedicated to raising awareness about nature, climate, and health. Other stops included the Aarhus Cathedral, Salling Rooftop, a Repair Café—where citizens can fix household items—and Sager der Samler (Citizen Change), a hub for citizen-led initiatives.

During these days, the project coordinators and the representatives of the partners within the project consortium gathered for the last in-person meeting to assess the project’s progress and plan the final steps.

European Future Citizens is a project designed to inspire young Europeans to develop smarter cities, foster entrepreneurship, and engage local communities through innovation challenges. Using a gamified approach, it encourages youth-led solutions for digitalization and sustainability.

The project is coordinated by FO-Aarhus (Denmark), in cooperation with DYPALL Network, Fundatia Centrul Educational Spektrum (Romania), Consorzio Materhub (Italy), Pot in Pot (Italy) and the Estonian Entrepreneurship University of Applied Sciences (Estonia), co-founded by the European Union.
