EU – CoE Partnership Call for participants for Symposium ‘Youth Policy Responses”

The European Commission and the Council of Europe Partnership on Youth launched the call for participants for the symposium “Youth Policy Responses to the Contemporary Challenges Faced by Young People”

The European Commission and the Council of Europe, in the framework of the Czech Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, are organizing a Symposium on youth policy responses to the contemporary challenges faced by young people in Europe, to take stock of the developments in the field and to identify future orientations and dynamics in youth policy at local, national and European levels.

Youth policy involves several types of actors, from the policy, research and practice field and it also involves young people through their participation. Youth policy processes responding to contemporary challenges deserve close attention, and the Symposium will represent a platform for exchange, showcasing the diversity of youth policy responses and seeking common ground among those involved in youth policy processes.

The Symposium will gather 120 youth policy makers, researchers, practitioners from youth NGOs and youth work and young people, from across the signatory states of the European Cultural Convention. It aims to increase participants’ knowledge on youth policy realities, challenges and its principles of governance, and it will support participants to further develop their policy practice in order to respond to contemporary challenges faced by young people.

The Symposium objectives are as follows:

• To further the understanding of youth policy responses and youth policy initiatives at local, national and European levels, from a theoretical and practice perspective, and its capacity to address some contemporary challenges that young people face;
• To explore thematic areas of youth policy of particular relevance to young people’s lives today, by sharing examples of effective practice of youth policy that tackles contemporary challenges;
• To identify key messages for the future work on youth policy at local, national and Europe levels;
• To offer a space for networking among the participants from policy, practice and research.
