EurHope – European initiative to engage young people in EU elections 2024

DYPALL Network is pleased to announce that we are joining EurHope, an initiative by Make.org and JEF Europe to engage young European future voters and consult them on their priorities in light of the European elections in 2024. 

Encouraging young people to vote in the European elections through peer-to-peer education and youth-led GOTV campaigns has been a part of our work since the last elections in 2019 when we led the “Youth Democracy Academy” project and partnered with other organisations in similar initiatives like “I choose Europe” campaign led by JEF Europe. We have continued those efforts through various projects and initiatives over the years, such as the “#EUInfluencers” project, where young people from various countries are the “influencers” of the EU towards their peers by increasing their understanding of the EU, developing critical thinking and combating fake news.

Make.org is an independent European civic-tech organisation that engages citizens, associations, public institutions, businesses and the media in the positive transformation of society. JEF Europe – Young European Federalists (JEF Europe) is a political youth NGO advocating for a democratic European federation to guarantee peace, the rule of law and human rights. Together they ideated EurHope, the unique collaborative initiative designed to involve one million young people from the 27 EU member states for a year, with the support of the European Parliament.

In light of the resurging conflicts in Europe and the multifaceted challenges posed by social, environmental, economic, health, and democratic crises, it has become increasingly imperative for the youth of these 27 EU nations to play a pivotal role in shaping the destiny of Europe.

To collect valuable perspectives from young individuals and empower them to participate in upcoming elections actively, Make.org has utilised its innovative digital engagement tool, presenting a straightforward question: “What are your ideas for co-creating a Europe capable of addressing future challenges?” This inquiry prompts young people to identify the priorities of their generation leading up to the 2024 elections. The resulting Citizen’s Agenda, set to be unveiled in Madrid next November, will catalyse the widespread mobilisation of young individuals and the exchange of ideas with elected representatives and members of civil society.
