Innovative tools for environmental education: the “EUnvironmental emergency in simple words” project

The “Environmental Emergency in Simple Words” project, funded by the Erasmus+ program, has developed a suite of innovative tools to empower young people and educators to address pressing environmental challenges.

The project’s five intellectual outputs include:

  1. The Envictionary: A comprehensive dictionary that defines key environmental terms and concepts, making complex topics accessible to a wider audience.
  2. Educational Guide for Youth Workers: A practical guide that provides youth workers with strategies and techniques for incorporating environmental education into non-formal learning settings.
  3. Online MOOC Courses: A series of online courses that offer in-depth training on environmental terminology and concepts.
  4. Comics and Board Games: Engaging and interactive tools that use recycled materials to teach about environmental issues in a fun and creative way.
  5. Environmental Application Game: A digital game that challenges players to make sustainable choices and learn about environmental solutions.

These innovative tools will be presented at a multiplier event in Portimao, Portugal in November 2024. The event will provide an opportunity for stakeholders and young people to learn about the project’s achievements and explore how these tools can be used to promote environmental literacy and action.

The project is coordinated by the Municipality of Salamina (Greece) in cooperation with Center for Social Innovation – CSI (Cyprus), Rozprawy o Europie (Poland), AFOI KOUTSANTONI EE RDC Company (Greece), CYLN (Greece) and DYPALL Network under the Erasmus+ programme.
