This training will specifically address on how to design and implement youth participation structures that support local public governance and policy development at local level (e.g. local youth councils, youth fora, etc.). At the same time that will allow our local and regional authorities to address more closely the needs and interest of young people. It also entails discussion and capacity building on the topics of advocacy, policy making, policy development and other key elements for real and effective youth participation. Training: Youth Actors in Decision Making (Romania – June 2018; Portugal – November 2018) A two-phased training course that we recommend to all our Network members, since it allows to explore the basis of youth participation and to gain a deep understanding of youth participation and decision-making. It provides the tools for improving not only our understanding of the role of youth in shaping our communities, but it also allows to work on concrete models of cooperation among civil society and public authorities at local level. It provides a framework for developing quality local projects in partnership and collaboration between CSOs and public authorities. The second phase will be mostly focused on youth policies. Training: Young Migrant Voices (Lisbon, Portugal – November 2018) The course “Young Migrant Voices: a training course for boosting participation of young migrants in decision-making processes at local level” calls for the mobilisation of all those working with youth at regional and local level throughout Europe to better approach, involve and engage young people with migrant background,to be come active actors in developing our local communities. The training will allow participants to become better prepared to design integration and participation policies to better allow young migrants and young people with migrant background becoming active citizens on their comunity development. Study visit: Local Youth Policies on Social Entrepreneurship (Tilburg, Netherlands – July 2018; Lisbon, Portugal – December 2018) In todays’ society, there is a growing need to develop better strategies and mechanisms to support the development of an enabling environment at local level that supports and promotes youth entrepreneurship and the creation of jobs with and for young people. The study visits will allow exploring concrete practices on how local authorities in cooperation with CSOs and the business sector are bringing new forms of job creation that leads to cultural, economic and social development. The project will take place in two phases, namely a study visit in Lisbon, Portugal and a study visit in Tilburg, the Netherlands. Conference: II International Conference on the Role of Local and Regional Youth Policies (Madeira Island, Funchal – Portugal, November 2018) The Conference will focus on youth work at the level of municipalities and particularly on the topic of youth participation and on inclusion in the broad sense. Sharing good practices and offering opportunities to network, the Conference will combine best examples with concrete workshops on how to adapt these winning practices to one’s local reality. It puts thus as as a priority the capacitation and mobilization of municipalities’ resources (human and financial), by facilitating a learning experience on how to do so, and also answering questions related participation, integration and interculturality, taking a part on presenting solutions for global and complex challenges that need to be address at local level.
