DYPALL Network at ALDA General Assembly 2026 in Malta DYPALL Network osales “Local Democracy That Delivers” ALDA General Assembly and Festival 2026, held in Malta from 13–15 May and organised by ALDA – European Association for Local Democracy. The three-day event brought together civil society organisations, local authorities, institutional partners, and stakeholders committed to strengthening democratic systems at the local level. This year’s theme highlighted the importance of reinforcing local participation and ensuring that democracy delivers tangible impact in citizens’ everyday lives. Discussions throughout the event reaffirmed the value of a multi-level democratic approach, connecting local, national, and international actors to create more participatory, effective, and people-centred governance. Key topics explored during the festival included the role of local democracy as the closest level of governance to citizens, the importance of active participation in democratic processes, and the need to strengthen trust and dialogue between local and national institutions. Participants also reflected on how local democracies can build stronger global networks through cooperation, solidarity, and mutual support. Alongside the General Assembly, the programme featured thematic sessions on migration, environment, and youth, as well as a study visit and the launch of ALDA’s new Centre of Expertise platform, designed to foster a more connected and informed network of stakeholders.
