Study Session “Young, Informed and Involved: Strengthening Democratic Literacy and Media Participation”

This activity strengthens pluralistic democracy by helping young people critically engage with democratic institutions, media, and public discourse. Through non-formal learning on media literacy, civic storytelling, and digital participation, participants will explore how to hold institutions accountable and amplify inclusive civic voices at local and European levels. Aligned with the Revised European Charter on Youth Participation, the session empowers youth — especially from rural or marginalised communities — with practical tools to engage in participatory structures such as Local Youth Councils, supported by key Council of Europe resources.
