“Strengthening Local Youth Councils in the AI Age” Training Course at the University of Youth and Development (UYD) 2026

DYPALL Network hosted the “Strengthening Local Youth Councils in the AI Age” Training Course at the University of Youth and Development (UYD), from 13th to 20th of September, in Mollina, Spain.

This Training Course brought together 17 active members from Local Youth Councils (LYCs) across different countries, responding to a shared need: many LYCs exist on paper but struggle to translate their mandate into meaningful influence on local decision-making. In this sense, the activity aimed to equip LYC members with the skills, knowledge, and critical understanding needed to improve the quality of their LYCs, while exploring AI’s role in youth civic engagement.

Participants attended sessions that combined experiential learning, structured self-assessment, peer exchange, and hands-on AI experimentation, using formats like World Café, fishbowl discussions, and small-group labs to turn reflection into practical, actionable outputs.

The University on Youth and Development is organised as part of iLEGEND Ill, a joint project co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe, and implemented by the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe.
