“HUMAN” project kick-off meeting


The kick-off meeting of the “HUMAN” project took place in Malaga, Spain from 18th – 21st June. During the meeting, partners met for the first time for two intense days, getting to know each other and laying the foundations for the next two years of work on Digital Hate Interrupter Activism to combat structural racism by promoting inter-community cooperation through digital technologies.

In the consortium of HUMAN project, organisations from other seven countries of the European Union participate as partners, which are: RINOVA Malaga from Spain, Folkuniversitetet from Sweden, Center for Social Innovation from Cyprus, Universidade Nova de Lisboa and DYPALL Network from Portugal, ZRS Koper from Slovenia, MuLab from Italy and the European Antibullying Network based in Belgium.

The 24-month HUMAN project aims to contribute to the elimination of hate speech against diaspora communities, the fight against discrimination and intolerance, especially on the grounds of racial or national origin, color and religion, as well as racism and xenophobia by focusing on activism actions using digital technologies.

HUMAN project includes a series of activities such as:

a) the development of a Manual for Digital Hate Interrupter Activism tackling hate speech, racism and intolerance against minority groups, b) transnational mutual learning and knowledge exchange for promoters of social change through activism,
c) the implementation of country-tailored learning activities for digital hate interrupter activism,
d) national and international awareness raising on digital hate interrupter activism to combat xenophobia and intolerance against minorities.

The HUMAN project (GA 101144478) is coordinated by Το Χαμόγελο του Παιδιού – The Smile of the Child in partnership with Rinova London, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, European Antibullying Network, Znanstveno-raziskovalno središče Koper, DYPALL Network, Mulab, Center for Social Innovation – CSI, Folkuniversitetet co-financed by the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values programme of the European Union (CERV 2021-2027).
